PLANETA is a Los Angeles–based shop specializing in upcycled and vintage-revamped fashion. Every piece is designed in-house and 100% made in LA. Our work centers on innovative design, thoughtful craftsmanship, and creating one-of-a-kind garments that stand out in today’s fashion landscape. The two have been best friends since 2015, though their connection began years earlier when Richard became an avid supporter of Hoza’s brand, Hologramcity, regularly reaching out for early access to one-of-a-kind releases starting in 2011. After relocating from Delano, California to Los Angeles, Richard briefly interned for the brand, and the professional relationship naturally evolved into a long-standing friendship.

Hoza is a Los Angeles native raised by a hardworking single mother. He began cutting, altering, and sewing clothes at a young age, and during his time at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising he realized he’d been a designer all along— annoyingly so, in the best way. While styling celebrities like M.I.A. and Robyn, he often needed custom pieces, so he started making them himself. Inspired by alternative punk, sports culture, and the energy of the city, Hoza developed a distinctive aesthetic that balanced edge with playfulness. In 2010, he launched Hologram City. As the brand grew and he saw the impact his work had on young people, he shifted his focus from styling to designing full-time. Today, he continues to create with the same spirit that started it all: bold, creative, and unapologetically original.

Richard grew up in Delano, a small town in Northern California, where dance was his first love. In college, he discovered thrifting, turning budget-friendly finds into standout looks inspired by his favorite artists and choreographers. By his final year of college, he was ready to take the leap and move to Los Angeles. There, he launched his first brand, Thariches, and the success of his mini collections gave him the confidence to take on his next venture: Planeta.

Planeta was born the moment Richard fully embraced fashion as his true calling. What began as a casual conversation with his best friend quickly turned into a bold decision: to open a shop in the heart of DTLA. Ironically, just a year earlier, Richard had been hesitant about the idea—but once the spark was lit, there was no turning back. Incredibly, only six weeks after that initial conversation, Planeta officially opened its doors in March 2022. With the support of the local community, the brand has grown steadily, carving out a unique presence in the fashion scene. Today, Hoza and Richard remain dedicated to establishing Planeta as a standout brand and a meaningful force in the world of fashion.
